Hey there. Let me just say, I don’t have it all yet. I haven’t done it all yet. I haven’t achieved everything I’m going to, yet. And, that’s exciting. That means I do not get stale. I have many more mountains to scale.
Several years ago, I thought that my ultimate job or career would be practicing law as an attorney. I did not look beyond that because I thought that would be the last and greatest career I could ever have or want. It was a great career, yet the legal system eventually left me burned out and sick.
In my life, I have traveled many career paths seeking something. I have had many jobs. Some have been satisfying, like teaching and the practice of law, where I felt I was really contributing to society. However, the salary of a teacher leaves a lot to be desired. People do not place great value on the education of children. Other jobs were less satisfying, to say the least. I was there because I had to pay bills or until I could find something better. Many times, I stayed because my mindset was off the mark.
I knew there were other people out there doing their own thing, as I wanted to. Some were people I knew. They owned a business, making money, were doing well as entrepreneurs or had high powered positions in government or corporations. They had great lifestyles. Nice home, vacations once a year, pretty cars, and so on. I envied them in many ways, because I always seemed to have to scramble for things. So, I continued to apply for jobs so I could also live my ultimate lifestyle; my ultimate dream. It never happened!
Then one evening I was in a bookstore for a discussion meeting and noticed the cover of a book. The colors caught my eye. It was called Rich Dad, Poor Dad. What struck me most, though, was the subtitle: What the Rich Teach Their Kids about Money that the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! I was hooked. I read no further and went straight to the counter to pay.
I saw that the copyright was 1997. Where had I been? It was now the year 2000!!! In any case, as I devoured the book, I came to realize a totally new way of thinking that led to a new way of life. My journey was on and I have not looked back since!
I joined a Cash Flow Game group and learned how to play. Indeed, I learned about all kinds of ways to become wildly successful and financially free; real estate investing, MLM, flipping homes, how to build a business, the power of having a home-based business, and the internet marketing industry. Most importantly, I learned about myself; and how my approach and perspective on life and money influenced my financial situation. And, I continue to learn about myself everyday.
Cheers to your success!
